FAQ

How do I know you are the right fit for me?


I offer a free 15 minute phone consultation during which time we discuss your presenting concerns and you will get to know me. If you believe we are a good fit we will then schedule our first session.


What does the first session look like?


For therapy with adolescents I meet with both the client and the parent(s) for the first ten or so minutes. During which time I provided psychoeducation regarding the limits of confidentiality and then we discuss the presenting concerns and goals for therapy. After which the parents will be asked to leave so that I can start to build a therapeutic rapport with the client. The last five to ten minutes will be reserved to work out scheduling and payment. 


For therapy with adults the structure of the first session is very similar in that I go over the limits of confidentiality, we discuss the presenting concerns and goals, and then end with scheduling/payment.


How long are sessions?


Sessions are 50 minutes. I start each session on the top of the hour and then give myself 10 minutes between sessions to prepare for my next one (i.e. go to the bathroom).


How frequent are sessions?


Typically weekly sessions are ideal to start. Consistency is helpful for building the therapeutic relationship between myself and the client. If we wait too long between sessions there is the chance of losing momentum and forgetting details from the sessions before. After a therapeutic relationship has been established and the client is feeling confident regarding their progress towards their goals, the frequency can be discussed and lowered.


How much do sessions cost?


My fee is $165 per session due at the end of session. Acceptable forms of payment include credit cards, cash, PayPal, and checks.


Do you take insurance?


Unfortunately no, I am considered out of network. I do offer a Superbill that can be submitted to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Please be sure to check with your particular insurance provider regarding their policies and reimbursement rates.


Do you have a cancellation policy?


Yes, there is a 24 hour cancellation policy. Contact me at least 24 hours before our scheduled session to cancel. If you do not do so you will be responsible for the session fee.
